July 19th, 2009

There’s alll this fuss about local food, drink, etc. BeerShack challenges all homebrewers to make a 10 metre beer!!! We have the hops and the barley from last year and this year. We will malt the barley and make a 10m beer! NOW THAT’S A REAL HOMEBREW!!!

Don’t ask me where I’m getting the yeast cos you DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!!! LMAO!!!!!

Happy Canada Day Y’all!! I tried to find a Stompin Tom vid but all I could find is:

I posted a poll on the main site which province has the best craft brew in celebration of The Day! Heart tells me PQ and head tells me BC but Ont is the underdog that may steal the show!

YOU be the judge!

Anyways… enjoy the day and celebrate The Best Country in the World!!!

BeerShack Begins

June 19th, 2009

Well, at the GCHC last Saturday (Jun 13th!), The BeerShack didn’t do too well.  We expected to nail the homebrewer of the year AND homebrew club but fell short apparently, I guess that’s pretty greedy. That’s ok cos in MiM 2009 BeerShack won club of the year. It’s good to see that President (Kevin) of CABA scored most of the points as Kevin sacrificed much to make CABA successful so there’s no bad blood between us. C’est la vie! At least our Bohemian Pilnser was chosen for Best Homebrew of 2009 .

Tally for GCHC for BS:

1x gold BOS (Best of All Homebrewers in Canada - Great Canadian Homebrew Competition 2009)
3x gold (scotch ale/bo pils/brown ale)
2x silver (choc cherry/IPA)
2x bronze (bourbon porter/weizen)

BeerShack Snack Pack for GCHC :

2L of Tripel (can’t believe it didn’t even place)
2L of Christmas Warmer (won gold in mtl but nothing for GCHC)
2L of Rasberry Eisbock (can’t believe it didn’t place)
2L of Southern brown (won gold)

1L of APA (can’t believe it didn’t place -nobody else could either)1L of Nettle Beer (it’s really  crap but some were nice and called it “interesting” lol)

1L of ESB (kinda crap)
1L of Sour Cherry Wheatbeer (Pink Flamigo -amazing stuff!!)
1L of Maple Buckwheat (OMG… pour this on your pancakes!)

1L of Scotch Ale (won gold -best drunk with blood sausage)
=13L total
